Tail Runners: Heist
Your Mortage is Ruining You!
And the greedy banker mice, sleeping in their maze, are hoarding all of your interest payments! Take your mousebot and send it into the maze to collect the gold that is rightfully yours! Activate the tail winch to extract the mousebot, and then repeat! Find their golden treasure rooms, but be weary not to enter their bedrooms (with the red night light).
Use WASD or the arrow keys to select entry location, press space to blow a hole in the wall. Once an entry location has been selected, use WASD again to enter the turn commands for your mousebot, and hit space to launch. You cannot steer the mousebot while it is in the maze, it will keep driving and follow your commands in order as it reaches intersections in the maze. You can press space while it is navigating to engage the tail-winch and pull it out of the maze (or just pull it back a few intersections to correct its path).
While entering commands, press Q to erase a command. Press Q again to de-select an entrance if you want to shift to a better entry point. You will have to keep changing entry positions as time goes by because of <insert game world reason here>.
Tail Runners is my second jam game and features an original soundtrack and janky graphics. The graphics are jankier than they had to be because I realized everything looks different with the compatibility renderer in the web export a few hours before submission deadline.... It also seems to lag a bit more in the web export when the mouse tail becomes too long. So keep it short!
Sound effects come from Soniss free GDC bundles: https://sonniss.com/gameaudiogdc/
Keyboard icons come from: https://github.com/DaviD4Chirino/Awesome-Input-Icons/tree/main
Code, music and "art" made for the Jam, except some generic scripts I reused from old projects.
